Module #6 My Reflection on Chapter.5 (Graves, 2000)
Normaly and usually at the beginning of every class a teacher let students know the goals and objectives of the class. I believe this is much help for students to achieve a successful class learning. I have competed in 'Star Teacher Contest' conducted by the local office of education several times. Once for the contest, I prepared a very detailed teaching plan about American culture, escpecially for Christamas. The goal of that lesson is that students are able to realize how important the knowledge of culture is to understnad the context and the lauguage. And the objects are like these; (a) Students are able to know American Christmas Culture through various multimedia, (b) Students are able to carry out different tasks of the reading activities, (c) Students are able to simulate the situation which can possibly happen on Christmas day. By letting my students the class goal and objectives, my class was done successfully and excellently and I won the 2nd prize. Once again that made me notice the importance of goals and objectives for the meaningful and rewarding class.

Wow, you won the 2nd prize!
ReplyDeleteChristmas is coming and I'm wodenring what and how I can share with my students. If you don't mind, will you share the lesson plan?
I think that all the objectives should be related to the goals so that they will be able to help the students' learning. But sometimes I am struggling with focusing on making clear goals and objectives. Making choice is really difficult mission for me. How about you?
Of course, I don't mind. But for this class, Several kinds of video clips should be prepared. Then, how can I send my lesson plan to you?
ReplyDeleteI am really impressed by your lesson plan about christmas. the goal was really general and objectives are really well connected with goal.
ReplyDeleteI pretty assume your students reached to the goal you set by objectives.
You are totally worthy to win 2nd prize.
Oh, I think that is very wonderful experience for you and your students. Also, I can learn many things from such your experience. Being with students! It may be the most important and ultimate goal for all teachers. I met some students who thought that teachers are just adults who cannot understand students. They are very rough to teach and even to talk together. In such a condition, the first thing that teacher can do is just waiting with careful attention. So, I expect to have fun and helpful time with cynical students some time or other.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I look at your creativity and effort in admiration. I think learning a language is learning the culture. Students who know the culture are likely to learn the language easily. In addition, you emphasized the importance of goals and objectives because they are road map of a course.
